Welcome to Region 5 RSDSS
The Regional System of District and School Support is authorized through Title I and operates under the authority of the California Department of Education with eleven regional offices throughout the state. The Region 5 RSDSS comprises Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara Counties. The Regional Director is located in the º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø Office of Education and each County Office of Education has a coordinator who serves as a liaison to the RSDSS.
District School Accountability
All LEA's are anxiouslly anticipating the changes to the ESEA from the reauthorization bill. The new guidelines call Every Child Achieve Act will make significant changes to federal education policies. Changes are not just at the federal level. The state, in an attempt to align assessments with Common Core State Standards, has requested from the federal government special consideration in this time of rapid change. District & School Transformation
Districts and schools are mandated to transform when they have unsuccessfully reach identified levels of student achievement. These student levels of achievements are in the process of being determined as well as the specific process districts and schools will have to follow if they have not meet the student achievement levels. Other districts and school have identified the need for school transformation for reasons other than standardized test scores.
