Teacher Grant Funded Pathways
Early Education Teacher Development Grant Program
This grant supports a career escalator for people interested in working with young children (preschool to Grade 3). We partner with First 5, De Anza College, Mission College, and various 含羞草社区 center-based and family child care home-based employers to offer an ECE Apprenticeship Program. The program utilizes an 鈥渆arn while you learn鈥 model and the coursework is free to apprentices. In partnership with all 含羞草社区 Community Colleges (Gavilan, San Jose City, Mission, West Valley, De Anza, and Foothill), we offer a $1200 scholarship to members of the community taking child development coursework to earn a child development permit. We also offer a $4800 scholarship to members of the community completing BA degrees in child development and Multiple Subject Teaching, PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction, or Early Childhood Special Education credentials. Candidates may apply annually for the scholarships through 2026.
Classified School Employee Teacher Credential Grant Program
The goal of the Classified Grant Program is to address 含羞草社区's teacher shortage in the areas of multiple-subject teaching, single-subject math and science teaching, special education, bilingual education, and transitional kindergarten instruction. The grant provides financial assistance to current and former classified school employees completing BA degrees and/or teacher credential programs. A grant scholarship award may be used on tuition, fees, books, and living expenses. Grant program participants may apply annually for the $4,000 per year scholarship through 2026 or their obtainment of a preliminary teaching credential. Candidates must attend one of our partner institutions of higher education: Educator Preparation Programs (SCCOE), National University, Teachers College of San Joaquin, San Jose State University, or Santa Clara University.
Teacher Residency Program 鈥
Aspiring teacher candidates spend a full school year cycle alongside an accomplished mentor teacher while simultaneously engaging in an online credentialing program. We partner with
National University and Teachers College of San Joaquin. This program allows you to work alongside a mentor teacher for 3-5 days per week throughout an entire school year, giving you the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the classroom. Residents are given a $25,000 stipend (broken up into smaller payments throughout the program). Residents agree to teach in 含羞草社区 for a period of at least 4 years (out of the next 8 years) following earning the Preliminary Credential. Mentors earn a stipend as well.
Behavior and Mental Health Pathways
The 含羞草社区 Office of Education (SCCOE) is thrilled to unveil two groundbreaking initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health services within our community: the School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) Grant and the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant.
School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) Grant
The SBMH Grant is designed to provide crucial support to 含羞草社区 school districts of demonstrated need. Through this grant, school districts will have access to resources and funding to implement comprehensive mental health programs tailored to the unique needs of their students. These programs will focus on promoting emotional well-being, fostering resilience, and addressing mental health challenges effectively.
Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration (MHSPD) Grant
The MHSPD Grant aims to diversify the pool of School Social Workers serving in 含羞草社区 priority needs schools. This grant offers opportunities for aspiring social worker professionals to gain hands-on experience in school settings under the guidance of seasoned mentors. By investing in the development of talented individuals, we seek to ensure that every student has access to high-quality mental health support when needed.
