Our staff provides data and statistics, evaluation, research analysis, internal audit services, and planning and support services to the SCCOE, school districts and other agencies in the realm of education.​â¶Ä‹

Administrative Regulation and Board Policy Development

Staff serves as a resource in the development of administrative regulations and Board policy and supports the Board Policy D​evelopment Subcommittee. Organizational regulations and Board policies are developed to ensure consistency with current educational law and SCCOE practices. View the SCCOE Administrative Regulation and Board Policies.


Charter Schools Department

Charter Schools Department ​coordinates the programmatic and fiscal oversight for charter schools approved by the County Board of Education​. The department also serves as a resource for º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø's charter schools, school districts, state and local agencies, parents and communities.


Childcare Planning & Support ​

  • California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) Region 5 - The California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN) is funded by the California Department of Social Services, Child Care and Development Division, and provides high-quality professional learning, technical assistance, and support to California’s preschool program administrators and teachers through its statewide network.

  • Childcare Resource and Referral Program – ​The º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø Office of Education serves as the Childcare Resource and Referral Program (R&R) for º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø. The function of the R&R is to provide every family and provider with what they need to be successful by implementing the SCCOE’s core values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and partnership. The Resource and Referral Program provides the following: childcare resources for families and providers, information and resources for families, and training and technical assistance for providers.

    Families should visit our county’s Childcare Portal at childcarescc.org to find high quality, safe, licensed childcare for all ages.

  • Local Early Education Planning Council (LPC)​ – Established by an act of the State Legislature in 1991, the Local Early Education Planning Council (LPC) is a collaborative association of representatives from the early care and education field, including parents, childcare providers, businesses, and government.​

Early Care & Education Initiatives

The Early Care & Education Initiatives Department is providing guidance and resources to support schools and school districts with Universal Pre-K (UPK) Expansion.


Elections

Staff facilitates the process for school board elections and school district measures for the SCCOE and local school districts.


Expulsion Appeals

The County Board of Education is the local appellate body for most types of student expulsion appeals. Staff provides support to the Board and acts as a liaison between the school districts and parents on matters related to student expulsions. Government Relations

The SCCOE's ​ Government Relations department​ is committed to improving equity and access to high quality, inclusive education for all students with a priority focus on student groups that have been historically underserved and impacted by the effects of structural racism and systemic poverty.​â¶Ä‹


Grants, Partnerships, & Operations​ Department

Under the direction of the County Superintendent of Schools, the Grants, Partnerships, & â€‹Operat​ions Department offers oversight of º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø Office of Education’s grants, external partnerships, and operations providing support with new competitive and inter-agency grant applications as well as collaborative relationship building among key community partners.


Integrated Data, Research & Evaluation

The Integrated Data, Research & Evaluation department oversees the SCCOE Data Governance Program, aids districts in data visualization, and is committed to innovative ways to utilize data for improved student outcomes.


Interdistrict Attendance Appeals

The County Board of Education is the local appellate body for most types of interdistrict transfer denials. Staff provides support to the Board and acts as a liaison between the school districts and parents on matters related to interdistrict attendance appeals. ​Public Affairs

Public Affairs provides support through communication with educators, students, parents, community and business leaders and media through information about the SCCOE and its programs, initiatives, and achievements.


Research, Evaluation & Planning

The Research, Evaluation & Planning team conducts studies and evaluations that provide insight into the effectiveness of educational programs, policies, and practices.


School District Organization

The County Committee on School District Organization is staffed by the Superintendent's Office. The County Committee on School District Organization is primarily responsible for the reorganization of school districts through territory transfers and unifications and with school board governance issues.

Parents, school staff, and the public can obtain school district residency information by visiting the District Locator page which links directly to the Assessor's Office and U.S. Census Bureau sites.


​Santa Clara North West SELPA​

The Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) coordinates with school districts and the SCCOE to provide a continuum of programs and services for students with special needs.​â¶Ä‹â€‹â¶Ä‹


Strong Start

​â¶Ä‹Strong Start is a coalition of community leaders, early education providers, nonprofit organizations, elected officials, members of the business community and other key partners who are committed to expanding access to high quality early learning opportunities for all children age 0 to 8 in º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø.​â¶Ä‹â€‹â¶Ä‹
