SAN JOSE, CA – In response to significant shifts in funding and to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of essential student programs and services, the º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø Office of Education (SCCOE) has made the difficult decision to implement strategic staffing reductions. While these decisions are never easy, they were made with careful consideration and a deep sense of responsibility to the students, families, and districts we serve. This action reflects SCCOE’s commitment to preserving core services amid ongoing fiscal challenges at the state and federal levels.
Over the past several years, the SCCOE has experienced a combination of declining one-time state and federal funding, grants at the conclusion of their cycle, rising operational costs, and changes in how educational services are funded across the state and federal government. These pressures have created a structural imbalance that could jeopardize SCCOE’s ability to deliver high-quality services if left unaddressed. Despite proactive efforts to reduce non-personnel expenses and realign resources, staffing reductions have become necessary to balance the budget responsibly and ensure compliance with government mandates.
