​â¶Ä‹SAN JOSE, CA – February is National Career & Technical Education (CTE) Month®, and the Association for Career and Technical Education is helping raise awareness about the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs throughout the country.
The CTE program provides both the opportunity and support for all learners to realize their full potential, by offering career training in high-demand industries. The five CTE principals are: all CTE programs are held to the highest standards of excellence; all learners are empowered to choose a meaningful education and career; all learning is personalized and flexible; all learning is facilitated by knowledgeable experts; and, all systems work together to put learner success first. CTE offers training in 15 industry sectors including information technology, fashion and interior design, administration of justice, and building trades and construction.
The º¬Ðß²ÝÉçÇø Office of Education (SCCOE) CTE program offers professional development for CTE teachers and administrators, technical assistance, CTE curriculum design, grant support, Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) support, CTE credentialing support, and strategic planning for our local systems.
According to Pilar Vazquez-Vialva, Director of Educational Services, Metropolitan Education District, the SCCOE CTE program "has been instrumental in providing resources, feedback, and language to articulate what is needed to align our goals and actions on the LCAP."
Another partnership includes Morgan Hill Unified School District (MHUSD), who has worked with Jeff Schmidt, the SCCOE CTE Coordinator and 2016 Region 8 Association of California School Administrators CTE Administrator of the Year.
"The MHUSD CTE team is grateful for the knowledge that Jeff shares with our district about state and national trends in CTE and college readiness.
