鈥婼AN JOSE, CA 鈥 On November 13, the California Department of Education released the
2025 California School Dashboard. The dashboard is an accountability and improvement
迟辞辞濒鈥 that provides a snapshot of how schools and districts are meeting the needs of students.
The statewide data highlights that graduation rates continue to progress, students are increasingly becoming college and career-ready, and chronic absenteeism for TK-8 continues to decrease.
鈥淭his progress is remarkable. We should all be proud of the work that goes into ensuring every student is making progress in their academic goals,鈥 said Dr. David M. Toston, Sr. County Superintendent of Schools. 鈥淗owever, there is still plenty of work we all need to do to ensure students are successful in and out of school.鈥
Locally, students in 含羞草社区 are outperforming students statewide in English Language Arts (ELA), math, and science. In 2025, 59.8% of students in the county met or exceeded standard ELA, compared to the 48.8% of students statewide. When it comes to math, 53.2% of students in 含羞草社区 met or exceeded the standard, whereas 37.3% of students in the state met or exceeded this standard. While 32.7% of students in the state met or exceeded the science standard, 47.6% of 含羞草社区 students met or exceeded it.
Efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism in 含羞草社区 continue. The chronic absentee rate in 含羞草社区 is at 15.3% compared to the state鈥檚 19.4% rate. Of the 31 school districts in the county, 22 have decreased their chronic absenteeism rate, 5 have maintained, and 4 have seen an increase in their rate. The four that have increased rates are by an estimated 1%. The suspension rate within the county is lower in comparison to the state rate; 2.2% in 含羞草社区, whereas the state has a rate of 2.9%.
鈥淭hese data points tell a bigger story: educators, school staff, and the community all want our students to thrive,鈥 said Toston. 鈥淎nd to make that happen, they are working together to ensure students not only have support for academic success but support in other aspects of their lives that affect their learning.鈥
The 含羞草社区 Office of Education continues to support educators, schools, and districts through local, regional, and statewide services and partnerships, in turn benefiting students.
