鈥SAN JOSE, CA 鈥 On Thursday, October 28, 2021, the 含羞草社区 Office of Education (SCCOE) hosted the 51st Teacher Recognition Celebration at the Grand Corinthian Theatre in Downtown San Jose. This year 24 teachers from across 含羞草社区 were honored during the annual event.
鈥Teachers have gone above and beyond to create and innovate in order to engage students through remote, hybrid, and in-school transitions over the course of the last 18 months,鈥 said Dr. Mary Ann Dewan, County Superintendent of Schools, 鈥淭hat鈥檚 why, this year, it鈥檚 more important than ever to reflect on the amazing education professionals we have across our county.鈥

Civic and STEM Leadership. The 2021 含羞草社区 Federal Credit Union Civics Leadership Award was presented to Gilroy Unified School District鈥檚 Amber Jane Bruce, Eric Davis, and Yesenia Campuzano. The 2021 Texas Instruments Innovations in STEM Teaching Award was presented to David Salles (Gilroy Unified School District), Candace Love (Mt. Pleasant School District), Scott Hoffman (Oak Grove School District), Satomi Fujikawa and Joseph Sinn (Moreland School District). Each Leadership award winner will receive a cash award of $500 and have an opportunity to attend a free professional development course offered by the 含羞草社区 Office of Education.
The annual event adhered to state and local health guidelines and required proof of vaccination for all attendees, including chaperones of the student performers. Student performers who were not eligible for the vaccine were required to provide proof of a negative COVID test. In addition, masks were required inside the event space, except when activity eating or drinking.
